This is a great tent. It works as described, however it has a few problems: the headroom is very low, I stand 5′5″, and although I could sit up in it hunched over, my head would brush the top (not fun in the morning with cold dew). The 2 legs really aren’t enough for good balance, I tipped it lengthwise while moving around in my apartment, so on the campsite I was extra careful not to get too close to one end.

The foam mat on mine was heavily bent at the joints, forming a low spot which was a bit uncomfortable. Also, you will need some sort of extra lining under your bag as it gets very cold down there.

Besides that, one of the best nights Ive ever had camping. I found myself somewhat creeping to one end and hitting the small side with my head. Fortunately its long enough to slide back towards the middle. I was able to lay in it and change my pants, but it wasn’t easy.

I suggest going with the oversize which has the dome top, its only a little bit bigger when folded up but I’m going to bet that dome will be better at directing rain/dew away, and will allow you to sit up and not hit the roof. Everybody asked me what the hell it was, and lots of people said they thought they would like to try one out.

This is a fantastic concept. I am currently in the Bermuda Regiment. I am in the boat section of support company. During weekend camps that we have once a month we travel to an abandoned warehouse that we store our boats in and we sleep there throughout the weekend. The problem is that the warehouse, along with almost the entirety of the rest of the abandoned naval base that it’s on, is in a state of disrepair. Every year we do a little bit to make it better but nobody has done any work to the roof in donkey’s years. This makes for an interesting situation when it rains since the roof of the building is very leaky. I’ve been woken up in the middle of the night several times by rain water dripping on me in a steady stream. Also, there is the odd occasion where we have to create makeshift tents for ourselves when we sleep out on one of the islands. Now I can stay warm and dry throughout my rest periods thanks to the tent cot. Definitely worth every penny.

Though, I don’t think that I’d want to have to go on a hike with it on my back along with the rest of my gear. Thankfully, my section doesn’t have that issue.

Also, I’d like to note that the size of the cot is great for me. I’m 5′11″ tall and weight about 155 lbs. I fit inside the item with great ease. This cot is slightly longer than the standard military issued cots that we have.

No it isn’t horse proof! I think one horse thought it was a couple of hay bales beside one another ……. but I scared them off. That was fun! This thing is great! After a quick fold-up I started out storing it behind the passenger seat but couldn’t easily reach though to the back seat well. I optioned later to store it above some added cargo straps that I draped across the front and back sets of entrance handles, sometimes provided in cars, that will fold down to aid a person entering the vehicle. So barely enough room for the top of my head and forget the interior ceiling light, really unneeded as I have front map lights that are brighter anyway. Get the rainfly, it can be quickly placed in a strong rain if needed and then secured better once back inside the tent. When I want to entertain a breeze, I keep it folded inside should a strong rain sneak up later and wake me after a peaceful driftin’ off. The storage case is nice now that it is home, but seldom used it on the road. Being separated from the somtimes wet/insect-filled ground is great but after arriving in cooler climates I debated on just what I could use as extra needed insulation below me, as the provided foam pad insert works well for stability but does little to keep out the cold. As an extra foam pad just seemed to defeat the portablilty issue, I decided on just an extra regular sleeping bag. The current small “down” bag I was using would insulate fine from the top as it would stay fluffy, but as my weight would compress the “down” below me I found it did little to keep me warm from underneath, but was exceptional to team-up with the new one as an insert. I have yet to try the giant “down” bag that was later given to me by my older brother, as I proceeded along my journey. I should mention the screening is great, I doubt the almost microscopic “No-Seeums” could even pose a problem. Also I got the more expensive version with aluminum stucture which I would strongly advise from the standpoint of less weight and freedom from possible corrosion. I even bought some pvc pipe and cheap bungee cords and made a sort of canopy using the rainfly and its zipper-open entrance.[...]

We used these on a combat operation in Iraq. At first we were sleeping on the ground. Then we got the regular military cots. After getting attacked by bugs our supply ordered these.

They are built though enough to withstand the rigors of combat.

Yes the head space is a little low. However, we the wind is blowing 30 mph and we were getting hit hard by sand storms, I know the guys that had these cots slept a lot better than the guys that didn’t.

The cot offered better protection from the elements and bugs as well.

The only two things I saw that we bad, is that they can get pretty hot if you have them closed. However, you can also use it as a mosquito net as well. Then also, did not fold up very small. Just folded into three sections.

I purchased one of the to suffice for 2 weekends out of town with a large group of friends to save time on setting up/breaking down and since I didn’t want to have to share a tent with anyone. Everyone was very curious when I brought out my Tent Cot, but it wasn’t until just before ‘fire out’ when I set it up that people became VERY interested. I had been using it all night as a lounger around the campfire, then when converted it to a tent and aired up my air mattress in under 10 minutes in relative low light, it was an instant hit! Camp breakdown/load-up time was zippy, too.

I am only 4′11″ and had almost an excess of horizontal room. I found the Cot to be a little wobbly if I wasn’t situated squarely in the middle. Test out the ground you set up on to be sure it’s level! It was long enough that I could store my shoes and a flashlight in the end near my feet, but don’t even THINK about trying to reach down to the foot of the thing once you’re zipped inside unless you’re a contortionist. Thinking of changing clothes in you’re ‘tent’? Give it a shot, but even at 4′11″ it sure didn’t seem feasible to me.

The low roof is very awkward to navigate, especially in the wee hours when you’re groggy. For this reason alone, I strongly recommend springing for the extra thirty or so bucks and buying the Oversize model. If I had to do it again, that’s what I would have done. The size blueprint/weight isn’t too terribly different between the regular and over sized when folded, but with the larger model you get stabilizers on the ends and a domed roof so you can sit up on more than just your elbows. The size of the regular is such that you’re probably not going to be hauling it too far from your transportation (seriously, if that’s what you’re looking for, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere) so it really makes sense to buy the larger model.

About condensation, expect some. Even with all of the flaps open to the mesh, the inside of the tent feels very moist when you wake up. I suggest keeping the tent set up for a few hours after you rise and before packing it away to let the interior dampness evaporate or you may be looking at mildew.

Finally, the bottom is NOT comfortable. (Yes, I’m a bit of a princess.) I brought a smallish inflatable mattress that was perfect for sleeping, however it did take up a lot of head-space real estate once inside.
